Why is Book Distribution so important?
Srila Gurudeva answers the question of "How did Srila Prabhupada preach to the whole world in such an effective and short amount of time?" by saying "It was possible because he translated so many authorized books, like Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Srimad Bhagavatam and Sri Bhagavad-gita as it is, and he ordered his disciples to distribute them in public places – including even churches, airports, supermarkets, and railway stations".
In distributing Srila Gurudevas books, we are playing an active role in furthering the teachings of Srila Prabhupada. Srila Gurudevas books act as the 'sequel' to Srila Prabhupadas books and ensure that the world continues to have access to all of the profound wisdom presented within them, and further the education of those already reading Srila Prabhupadas nectarean words.
Book Distribution in Pune
Last year (2010) I went with Taruni and Yamuna didis to Pune to distribute books. After one day of being there, Srila Gurudeva entered nitya-lila, so we immediately left to go to Navadvipa. We left all of our books with the devotees who we were staying with, and I really didn’t know if we would ever see them again.

One devotee who not only does the above but also performs arati and offers bhoga to Srila Gurudeva daily is the current pujari of Srila Gurudeva’s Samadhi-Sthali Mandir, Gadadhara dasa Brahmacari of South America.

Yamuna Flooding
Dear All,
The Yamuna River has not been so high in over 30 years. This year she kept growing and growing until she finally flooded homes and unfortunately, after devotees watching and watching - she flooded our basement book storage room. The water came in through the drains, so that is why no one caught it in time. The Yamuna was not all the way up to our building yet - but the drains were overlooked.
The devotees did a Titanic delve into the water and got all of the boxes out of the water.
South Africa School Program
On Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 Syamarani didi, myself, Mukunda prabhu, Anupama prabhu, Asim-Krsna prabhu and Lalita didi went to a school in a rural town outside of Johannasberg. There were about 50 kids there and they were so incredibly sweet.
First we chanted and we gave them all a Way of Love so they could follow along with the Maha-mantra. They loved the book and we told them that the books are sacred so to keep them in a special place and not on the floor, etc.

I hope through my presentation of the following events, other devotees are inspired to push forward the desire of the parampara. Their desire is that the Hare Krsna movement is spread throughout the world.

“Oh Gurudeva, I am very tired. Send someone who you want me to meet,†prayed Taruni. What would a sailor be doing thousands of miles from any ocean? Apparently he had to get a book. She gave him a Secrets of the Undiscovered Self in Hindi and began to explain that the material world is not the goal of life.
